Since its inception, Zavieh has been fortunate to follow Dr. Parviz Sahabi’s school of thought on the Mathnawi. With more than forty years of experience, Dr. Sahabi, a Rumi scholar and a renowned teacher of the Mathnawi, has brought to us Rumi’s timeless wisdom through classes both in Farsi and English. Zavieh hosts the late Dr. Parviz Sahabi’s pre-recorded classes and has been trusted with the exclusive rights to recordings of his teachings.
The Mathnawi (also in some documents spelled as Mathnavi or Masnavi) or Mathnawi Ma’navMa’navi (The Spiritual Couplets) is the best-known book of Rumi, an extraordinary poet and mystic of the thirteenth century. In 6 books of poetry, Rumi has committed to paper his thoughts, teachings, in short, his wisdom, for the benefit of his disciples and all future seekers of the path to perfection. Masked within engaging stories, Rumi’s lessons on human issues and their solutions are highly symbolic and in need of an expert teacher to decipher them in a more comprehensible format. Zavieh hosts numerous ongoing classes on Rumi’s masterpiece the Mathnawi.
Under Dr. Sahabi’s direction, one of his senior students, Mr. Mehdi Yousef-Zadeh, holds a number of Mathnawi sessions across different books at Zavieh.

The live webcast of Dr. Sahabi’s Mathnawi classes requires his consent in advance, for designated locations in a classroom setting. There are however, occasions where due to special circumstances, i.e., illness, or being too far from these centers, Dr. Sahabi grants special permits to students to connect privately. These students are expected to treat the sessions with all due respect.

Rumi’s Mathnawi study sessions by the students of the Mathnawi in Zavieh
The first 3 Mondays of each month, excluding the long weekend holidays in Canada, 19:30 to 21:00 (PST)
Upon Dr.Sahabi’s recommendation, the students of Rumi’s Mathnawi gather and study Mathnawi in students group sessions in Farsi.
